Altynshash Arystanbekkyzy Kurmanali was born in Taskuduk Village of Baidibek District of South Kazakhstan on 20 February 1969. In June 1992, she graduated from Almaty Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages in 1992. In August 1992, she began her professional career as a lecturer in Department of Kazakh and General Linguistics of the Almaty Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages. In 1999, she successfully defended her Doctoral thesis at Uludag University (Turkey) under the supervision of Professor C. Ak. From 1999 to 2009, she worked as the university’s representative in Turkey and as an acting associate professor at the Department of Languages and Linguistics of Kainar University. From 1999 to 2003, she worked as a visiting scholar in the Department of Turkish Language and Literature at Uludag University (Turkey). From 2009 to 2019, she worked at SDU as an Associate Professor, Professor, and Head of the Departments of Foreign Languages and Turkic Studies. On November 8, 2018, she was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor in Linguistics by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. From 2019 to 2021, she worked as Vice-Rector of the Kainar Academy and as Professor of the Department of Languages and Journalism. On January 6, 2021, she was awarded the academic title of Professor by the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Since 2021, she has been working as an Acting Professor of the Department of Turksoy, Turkish Studies and the History of Eastern Countries at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. She is the author of 1 monograph, 7 course books, 2 teaching and methodological manuals, 2 dictionaries of linguistic terms, 2 electronic dictionaries, 1 phrasebook, and more than 80 scientific articles in Turkish, English, and German, 2 articles were published in journals indexed in the Thomson Reuters database and 4 articles indexedin the Scopus database. She is the organizer and moderator of numerous international and national conferences and round tables, chair of State attestation commissions, and a member of dissertation councils. Fluent in Kazakh, Turkish, English, Russian, and German. She is married and has two daughters. She is a winner of the Bolashak International Scholarship Program. She has been awarded the honorary medals “Honored Employee of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan” (2015) and “For Contribution to the Development of Science” (2024).
